THE ADVENTURE OF THE CHRISTMAS PUDDING.
By Agatha. Christie
see relatedThe proof is in the pudding.
'The proof is in the pudding' is an abbreviated version of an earlier phrase which appears in Miguel de Cervantes novel 'Don Quixote as 'The proof of the pudding is the eating'.
The Dictionary of Cliches dates the phrase to the 14th century and a 1682 version of the saying from Bileau's Le Lutrin contains the phrase 'The proof of the' pudding's seen i' the eating.'
The phrase means that we need to go to the source to find out the truth for ourselves. In other words, unless we taste the pudding ourselves we won't know its quality

I have been power washing my porch. Thanks dad for loaning it to me. It worked pretty well, though I think to get the last part done I am going to have to go another direction. My porch needs painting so I was trying to use it to get the chipped paint parts off, and it almost got it done but still needs some more attention before being ready to paint. But, it was a lot dirtier than I thought, so now it is cleaner than I knew it could be.
Markus with a pencil was in since last post. I did not see the pencil.
Jessica got a new computer.
Clara is cuter by the day. Ike is bigger by the day.
Work is going well.
I like shopping at Sams. There is something about buying in bulk that feels good.
Enough for now. Z

You should listen to your wife...
Today Zach comes home briefly to bring me a tea from Chick-Fil-A (one of my vices), such a sweet guy, and the following ensued.
Me: Aw, thanks cutie, aren't you sweet.
Zach: I have this thing on my lip, will you look at it. I think it's a blister or something.
I look at the "blister", unsure what it really is, i'm thinking he bit his lip.
Zach: What do you think i should do?
Me: Leave it alone, let it heal.
Zach heads to the back of the house, to the bathroom and i don't see or hear him for about 10 minutes.
Zach returns to the living room holding a piece of bloody toilet paper to his lip.
Me: So, you left it alone, eh?
Zach: I cut it off with the fingernail clippers.
(let me repeat that: He "CUT IT OFF WITH THE FINGERNAIL CLIPPERS"!!!)
Me: And you're wondering why it won't quit bleeding...
Zach: Maybe I could put some Liquid Band-aid on it.
Me: Hold ice on it for 15 minutes.
Long story short, he never "could" hold the ice on his lip for a full 15 minutes, so it never stopped bleeding. He had to go back to work. I hope it stopped bleeding. As i told him, I bet he's glad he clipped that little bugger off so no one could make fun of the blister on his lip. It will be much better explaining to his patients and co-workers that he clipped it off with the fingernail clippers, that's why he's bleeding profusely and has toilet paper stuck to his bottom lip.
The tea really hit the spot!

Memo
To: Good and Faithful Readers
From: Zach Newcomb, Co-Editor
This memo is to inform all interested parties that I (Zach Newcomb) have successfully replaced the computer screen of the computer that is the primary method of updating the www.xanga.com/jznewcomb sight. It was a very exciting event that is projected to lead to a higher level of enjoyment of our posting team in regards to producing appropriate posts and partaking of other xanga or otherwise specified blog sites. It is also our belief that this could lead to less frustration in using the computer seeing as we only had usable access of approximately half the screen prior to the replacement procedure.
